PROJECTS participating in

• ERC-CZ project (2022–25) New project will investigate the potential of the Greenland Ice Sheet to produce and release methane – CryoEco Microbiological scope -- subglacial meltwater & sediments, incubation experiments, ice drilling & sediment coring.
• GAUK project No. 962119 (2019–21) focus on the experimental part of my PhD project. Using microcosms to simulate the glacial-to-proglacial ecosystem transition. Incubation experiments, 16S rRNA/rDNA, GC-FID, etc.
• GAČR project (2018–21) focusing on Microbial methane oxidation beneath glaciers. The project is based primarily on incubation experiments, aiming to quantitatively assess the potential for microbial methane oxidation in subglacial ecosystems. More @CryoEco website
• AFG 2017 Fieldwork-based project. Thanks to the Research Council of Norway Arctic Field Grant, I  conducted sailing trip across the Isfjorden (Svalbard) and sampled geologically discern glaciers, including glacier forefields. Samples were used in the experimental study of the microbial community development during the glacial-to-proglacial ecosystem transition. Project details  @CryoEco and RiS.

FIELDWORKS

~ 7 months spent in the field (accumulated time)

My experience include logistics, problem solving, glacier touring, safety assessment, radio & satellite communication, camping etc. I'm experienced in aseptic and ultraclean sampling of liquids and solids, filtering, extracting of gas from water, algae collection, and continuous river monitoring.

07-08/2022 MARCH4G ERC-CZ project sampling campaign, as a continuation of the previous year. Glaciers visited this year were in a proximity of Nuuk, Narsarsuaq, and Kangerlussuaq cities. 2022 fieldwork is done – CryoEco.eu
08-09/2021 MARCH4G ERC-CZ project sampling campaign led by M. Stibal. Collecting samples of meltwater targeting subglacial outflows - filtering & preserving. Helping with collection and measuring of CH4 and CO2 gases. Additional sampling of basal ice sediments at Issunguata Sermia glacier terminus (Greenland). Hiking with heavy load, camp-based field research and more. 2021 fieldwork is done – CryoEco.eu
07/2021​ GRISMEME GAČR project sampling campaign led by J. Žárský. Collecting samples of cryoconite over the ablation zone of west Greenland Ice Sheet. Multiple days hiking on glacier surface and helicopter taxi.
07/2019 Sampling of Greenland Ice Sheet meltwater and subglacial sediments for our incubation lab experiments targeting anaerobic oxidation of methane. 2019 fieldwork is done CryoEco.eu
06-07/2018 'WhatTheFlux' project led by J. Hawkings (University of Bristol). Few weeks of field camping next to the Leverett Glacier outlet (Greenland). Sampling of meltwater, filtering and preserving of samples for later analyses of biogeochemistry and CH4/CO2 content. Continuous measurements of river pH, temp., cond., and discharge rates. 09/2017 Sampling of sediments from basal ice at Leverett Glacier. Kangerlussuaq, Greenland.
08/2017 Arctic Field Grant No.10645 Glacial sediment and meltwater sampling at Sefstrombreen, Nansenbreen, Foxfona, Longyearbreen, and Aldegondabreen (Svalbard, Norway).
08/2016 GAČR project Icelandic sampling campaign focusing on surging glaciers. Sediment and meltwater sampling.
